Texas Farm Bureau Endorses State Representative Erin Zwiener for Reelection
State Representative Erin Zwiener’s (D-Driftwood) reelection campaign has received the endorsement of the Texas Farm Bureau Friends of Agriculture Fund (AGFUND). This endorsement signals Representative Zwiener understands the important role agriculture has in Texas, not only for the success of Texas’s economic climate but for the future of Texas farm families across the state.
“Representative Zwiener was a champion for landowners,” said Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boening. “She fought to protect landowners from eminent domain abuse and give them the power to protect their land.”
Representative Zwiener co-sponsored the eminent domain reform bill, SB 421, championed by Senator Lois Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) and Representative Dewayne Burns (R-Cleburne), which would have leveled the playing field for landowners. The bill would have established minimum easement standards, provided protection from low ball offers, and required a landowner meeting. The Permian Highway Pipeline, a 42-inch natural gas pipeline operated by Kinder Morgan, is planned to pass through Rep. Zwiener’s district and has condemned the properties of dozens of landowners.
“I’m deeply grateful for the endorsement of the Texas Farm Bureau and am eager to continue the fight for eminent domain reform,” said Representative Zwiener. “I’ve heard from several constituents about companies abusing the eminent domain process and coercing them into an unfair deal. Our landowners need more tools to stand up for their property.”
