Texas Democrats Thank Health Care Heroes at Culmination of Nurses Week
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued a statement on the culmination of Nurses Week:
“While nurses have always done the work of caring for people under difficult circumstances, they have gone above and beyond their calling over the past year — delivering quality and compassionate care to patients during one of the most challenging and deadly pandemics in recent memory. Today, as President Biden continues to lead the most aggressive vaccination campaign in history, nurses are at the forefront of this push — playing a core role to get Americans vaccinated and beat back the pandemic.
“Nurses, like other frontline workers, have shown incredible bravery and resilience as they continue to provide care to patients even while navigating the ever-changing challenges of COVID-19. Today, and always, we appreciate the risks and the sacrifices our Texas nurses make in order to keep our populations safe and healthy. Their actions do not go unnoticed.
“As this year’s Nurses Week draws to a close, we must all continue to do our part to end this pandemic — from wearing masks to getting vaccinated to continuing to follow CDC guidelines. We can show our thanks and appreciation by continuing to help slow the spread, reducing the risk of transmission for the public and for our state health care workers. Together, we can beat COVID and build our state back better.”
