The Hays County Democratic Party to hold food drive competition for Hays Democratic Clubs
The Hays County Democratic Party will hold a food drive competition among its various clubs to benefit the Hays County Food Bank.
Last summer, the Hays County Food Bank experienced a shortage of food that many citizens depend on, especially during summer months. An average of 2,500-3,000 pounds of “shelf-stable” foods like soups, peanut butter, rice, beans, tuna and pasta are distributed each week as well as an additional 6,000 pounds of fresh produce.
Hays County Democratic Party Chair Donna Haschke said, “We want to do our part to make sure no families, no children go hungry in our community. Let’s all donate to fill the pantries at the Food Bank.”
Hays County citizens are encouraged to contact their local Democratic clubs to donate: San Marcos Area Democrats, www.facebook.com/SanMarcosAreaDemocrats – Wimberley Democrats, www.wimdems.org – College Democrats, www.txstatedems.com – Democracy for Texas Hays County, Margo Case at firstname.lastname@example.org – Dripping Springs for Democratic Action, www.facebook.com/DSDATX/ – Kyle Buda Area Democrats, www.kylebudadems.com – Hays County Tejano Democrats, www.facebook.com/HaysTejanoDemocrats/
The competition starts on May 14 and will end June 14. The clubs should bring their donations to the Hays County Democratic Party office at 215 W. San Antonio Street, San Marcos, by Noon on June 14 to determine contest winners.
