Hays County Democratic Chair

I received word today that President Biden was withdrawing from the Presidential race. The word came while over 100 Hays County Democrats attended a fundraiser for Congressman Colin Allred in San Marcos. While there was overwhelming excitement in the room for Allred, there was also a somber acceptance that we as Democrats were now in unchartered territory and that President Biden would no longer be in the race with us.

We gave Biden a rousing toast in recognition of his many accomplishments and thanked him for leading us to the strongest economy on the planet and for delivering on so many campaign promises to Build Back Better an America we can all be proud of.

While losing Biden in this race is disappointing to many of us, let us remember that Democracy is not the creed of a single person but the collective heartbeat of a people yearning for justice, equality, and freedom.

We are Democrats and we are united in our shared beliefs and ideals and pursuit of a free society where every voice is heard, respected and every person is valued.

As we prepare for the next 100 days until election day, one thing is clear—-we as Hays County Democrats cannot control what will happen in Chicago in August, nor can we control what will happen across the country on November 5th.

But what we absolutely can control, is what each of us can do here in Hays County to build on our success in 2022 officially turning Hays County Blue from the top of the ticket to the bottom of the ballot. We must finish the job in electing all of our candidates and running up the votes for our nominee for President and all other races.

Make a plan on what you can do, whether it includes making a donation, knocking on doors, calling your neighbors or writing to hard to reach voters helping them understand why voting this year is critical.

We must focus on raising the necessary funds to run a complete campaign on August 25th at our LBJ Birthday Bash, then maximize those funds to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

As a Delegate to the National Convention, I expect there will be many long hours getting ready to formally vote on our nominee for President and Vice President. I will ask all Democrats to stay united. Make a plan to do whatever you can to help us turn Texas Blue, Keep Hays County Blue and make certain Donald Trump never comes near 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue again!
