Keith Hampton for Chief Justice of the Third Court of Appeals
For thirty years, Keith Hampton has practiced state and federal constitutional law in every appellate court in Texas at every level. He has been awarded numerous awards for his work in the fields of civil rights, indigent defense, mental health and the death penalty, as well as public recognition of his work to get innocent people out of prison. He has won exonerations for Greg Kelley and Fran and Dan Keller, among others. He has the highest ranking by his peers and by judges for ethics and skill. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America and Texas SuperLawyers.
Keith is only candidate who is board certified in both criminal law and criminal appellate law. If elected, he will be the only judge who has both these certifications. Keith is also the only candidate who has appeared before all 14 appellate courts, the Texas Supreme Court and the Court of Criminal Appeals, and at all levels of the federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States (where he beat Ted Cruz). He has handled the appeals of the most complex litigation in law. He has also written more on the law on a broad range of topics in state and national publications, including law journals and books.
“Presidents Bush, Trump and Mitch McConnell has unfortunately packed our federal courts,” said Hampton. “The only place where voters can have an impact is with our state appellate courts. We need highly qualified judges who can write well reasoned and fearless opinions right now.”
