Hays Democrats Food Drive Challenge

The food drive challenge concluded last Friday, June 14 and the results were outstanding.

On Monday, members of the Hays County Democratic Party delivered food items and monetary contributions to the Hays County Food Bank collected by area Democrats.

The volunteers brought in a total of 366 pounds of food and $1,008 in monetary donations to help further the food bank’s mission of keeping county residents in need well fed.

In mid-May, Democratic Party clubs in Hays County were challenged by the county party officials to collect items and donations as part of a community service project.

The food drive challenge concluded last Friday, June 14 and the results were outstanding. All the participating clubs are commended for their hard work. The county executive committee would like to recognize the top three contributors.

SECOND PLACE: KBAD (Kyle/Buda-Area Democrats) for food and monetary donations of $278.66.
THIRD PLACE: SMAD (San Marcos Area Democrats) for monetary donations of $180.00.

Total food weight donated in pounds: 366 lbs.

The other clubs who participated were Wimberley Democrats and DSDA Dripping Springs Democratic Action. Both groups collected food and donations for their local food pantries. Thanks, also, to the College Dems who helped us organize and collect items.

The Hays County Democratic Party thanks all who gave of their time, money, and non-perishable food items for the members in our community who may be food insecure and in need during the summer months. We hope to continue our advocacy of this worthwhile project in the coming months.
