WHAT IS A PRECINCT?
Each Texas county is divided into geographical areas called PRECINCTS.
Hays County currently has 85 precincts.
Every 2 years, each political party elects someone to oversee all precincts for their party.
This elected official is known as the
County Party Chair.
Hays County’s current Democratic Party Chair is
Mark Trahan.
WHAT IS A PRECINCT CHAIR?
Each individual precinct has an appointed representative called a Precinct Chair.
The Precinct Chair must live in the precinct they represent.
The Precinct Chair is responsible for helping residents find and vote for Democratic candidates.
Any Democrat can become a Precinct Chair.
