I am running for Tax Assessor-Collector of Hays County and I would like to ask for your support for my campaign.

I want to share with you my reasons for running to replace the Republican incumbent:

• My family has a strong tradition of public service. My parents served in the military and the Peace Corps. I am a former member of the Americorps National Community Corps program. For seven years I fought fires all over the nation for the US Forest Service. I am now committed to public service in my home county.

• I am committed to assuring that the Hays County Tax Assessor-Collector office is run in a customer friendly, effective and professional manner. I am qualified by my experience of owning and managing a small business and having earned a bachelor and a master’s degree in forestry and range management from Colorado State University and a law degree from Baylor University. I have spent the last few months visiting with present and former elected officials and citizens in Hays County who deal with the Tax Assessor-Collector office. Through these conversations and additional research into the law and operations of other Tax Assessor-Collector offices across the state, I have some specific ideas that would modernize and improve the office.

• I am committed to the values of the Democratic Party of Hays County. Our party candidates have been very successful in strengthening the leadership of this county. I think that I have the abilities to contribute to this tradition of excellence.
