The last day to file to be a candidate on the Democratic Primary is Monday Dec. 11th

Candidates, the deadline to file for the 2018 Democratic Primary is Monday, December 11th. It’s not too late to submit your application! Follow these steps to file for the March Primary:

Step 1 – Fill out an application form. The application can be found here on the Secretary of State website.

Step 2 – Write a check for the filing fee or fill out the petition in lieu of filing fee (PDF). The filing fee amount is listed on the application form on page 3, and varies depending on the office. Please provide a check as credit cards are not accepted. More detailed information is available on filing fees.

Step 3 – Get the application form notarized. The form must be notarized before it can be turned in.

Step 4 – Turn in the application form and filing fee to John Adams, County Chair or Donna Haschke, Secretary. Reach John at john@HaysCountyDemocrats.org or Donna at donna@HaysCountyDemocrats.org to get more information on where to turn in your application.

Campaign Treasurer – Before you can raise or spend money for your campaign, you must file for a Treasurer. The forms are located on the Texas Ethics Commission (PDF) website. Fill out the form and take it to the Hays County Elections Office. Sample campaign treasurer reports are also available here. The TEC website also maintains a guide for appointing a campaign treasurer.

The 2018 Democratic Primary election is on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. A list of important election dates in 2018 can be found on the Secretary of State Elections website.
